DEVELOPING
YOUR CAREER

Training and Mentoring

Our studio is a place of nurture and learning where people can thrive. Now in its ninth year, EPR’s extensive in-house mentoring programme is offered to all staff. The initiative aims to improve awareness and identity, develop talents and contribute to professional aspirations.

On-Site Experience

At EPR we encourage our staff to make regular site visits to understand the practical and technical aspects of architecture. We believe working with clients and contractors on site is immensely valuable to acquire site sensitivity and develop an understanding of material application.

Latest Technology

EPR makes use of the latest digital tools to optimise the quality and efficiency of our services and output. These include VU.CITY, a 3D digital planning and design tool, in addition to Enscape, Dynamo, Grasshopper, Navisworks, Bim Collaborate, Revizto and more.

Study Support

EPR provides financial support to assist with career development and organises study groups for our Part III students; offering both formal and informal tuition programmes to help develop their professional skills. We also offer study leave days to support staff working towards their qualifications.

BIM Support and Training

EPR has its own in-house team of BIM managers, BIM co-ordinators and model leaders who regularly instruct our staff on best practice in information modelling. We also provide staff with monthly software training, regular BIM CPDs and on-demand support, instilling technical confidence.

Diverse Environment

EPR’s London headquarters, All Saints, provides a versatile studio space that enables our collegiate working style. Well-connected studios, an abundance of breakout areas and a large communal hub offer a variety of options where staff and visitors can work and socialise.

Industry Leadership

As a large practice, we are conscious of the responsibility we have to influence the profession and the wider industry. We take this responsibility seriously, working in collaboration with various initiatives that allow us to be part of the conversations that help shape the future of the profession.

Material Experimentation

Part of EPR’s commitment to high-quality, context-driven design demands that we continue to experiment with new materials to find the right solution for each project. As a result, we regularly work with artists and craftspeople to push boundaries and develop bespoke, innovative proposals.

Regular CPD Sessions

Our employees can participate in an extensive programme of structured and unstructured CPDs, organised by an in-house CPD Working Group. EPR's CPD programme includes lunchtime seminars and webinars, peer group project presentations and architectural film screenings.

Design Workshops

Our designs are informed by a series of informal design workshops, which are intended to bring forward different voices from across the practice. EPR’s in-house technical services and sustainability teams ensure that the designs embrace sustainability goals and meet all technical design requirements.

Materials Library

EPR’s interior design team benefits from an extensive in-house materials library, home to a vast array of material and finish samples including tiles, fabrics and hardware. Streamlining the design process, our materials library boosts creativity by providing a clear view of all available assets.

Model Making

Model-making plays an intrinsic role in EPR’s design development. We are fortunate to have an extensive model-making facility in our London studio, a fantastic resource that helps progress design development and enables us to communicate ideas more effectively.

'I was fortunate enough to work on the retrofit of All Saints, our London studio. Taking the project from concept to completion offered a rare opportunity to engage with a scheme holistically — including a unique insight into the role of the client.'

OUR
STUDIO
CULTURE

Hybrid Remote Working

EPR supports a healthy work-life balance by offering flexible and hybrid working to all members of the team. Staff attend the studio four days a week, which allows us to instil a strong sense of teamwork and heighten the collaborative spirit of our practice.

Cycling Culture

We strongly support the use of cycling, both for commuting and travelling to meetings, through our staff cycle-to-work scheme and high-quality end-of-journey facilities which include nine showers and 56 staff cycle spaces.

Social Events

We are proud of the creative, sociable and welcoming community that makes EPR such a great place to work. The EPR Social Committee organise regular events including pub quizzes, softball tournaments and our annual summer and Christmas parties.

Yoga and Meditation

As part of our commitment to staff welfare and fitness, we provide regular yoga classes. Hosted in the central hub of our London headquarters, the classes tackle sources of stress - whilst helping improve focus, breathing and strength.

Life Drawing

At EPR drawing is an integral part of our design approach; we use sketches to communicate ideas and solve problems. We are proud to offer regular life drawing classes for staff, led by figurative painter Dan Whiteson, in the hub of our London studio.

Book and Film Clubs

We host a monthly Book Club where EPR’s bookworms delve into and discuss the committee’s book of choice over wine and cheese. Our Wrocław studio also holds regular film nights, showcasing independent films to spark interesting discussions.

Weekly Football

EPR organise regular football matches with other construction professionals across various disciplines. We are often invited to take part in industry-based tournaments throughout the summer months and in the absence of any opponents, we organise competitive in-house fixtures.

Summer Games

Summer is a particularly busy period for the EPR Social Committee. Our London and Manchester offices participate in a wide range of outdoor events, including an annual industry highlight, the JLL Property Triathlon, softball tournaments in Regents Park and LandAid's North West 10k and 5k.

Charity Fundraising

Social responsibility is extremely important to our practice. We develop long-lasting relationships with locally established charities and social enterprises, and we are proud to give staff the time to engage in a diverse range of outreach projects for the good of the wider community.

Gallery Visits

As well as organising regular social events, EPR also encourage cultural activities such as gallery visits. Our London team enjoy an annual visit to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition whilst EPR's Wrocław staff regularly attend art and architecture galleries.

Outdoor Trips

Making the most of their surroundings, our Wrocław team enjoy regular outdoor trips, including ski trips to the mountains of Zieleniec in the Kłodzko region, kayaking down the Odra River and cycling through the beautiful Izera Mountains.

Design Competitions

EPR is proud to have entered multiple innovative design competitions including The Iris, Old Street — a response to TfL and Islington Council's call for ideas to regenerate the Old Street roundabout — and the RSBC Playhouse, which was shortlisted in the AJ's House of Colour competition.

‘I'm proud to have worked on The OWO; a sensitive repurposing of the iconic Grade II* listed Old War Office building. Under the guidance of the project director, I have led the hotel element of the scheme from concept to completion.’
