TECHNICAL SERVICES
Our technical services team ensures projects comply with all relevant requirements, including planning and listed building consents and Building Regulations. In this way, clients can have complete confidence that all vital measures, such as fire and life safety, sustainability and accessibility are embraced and embedded throughout our design process.
OBJECTIVES
Our technical services team helps facilitate EPR’s ambitious sustainability objectives, including advising on material specification, assessment and certification. The team also plays an important role reviewing projects for buildability, ensuring smooth delivery while also safeguarding the integrity of the design.
COMPLEX PROJECTS
EPR’s technical prowess is vital for the success of our often highly complex projects. These include everything from the creative repurposing of sensitive heritage buildings to large-scale new builds in high profile locations. Bolstered by our technical know-how, we relish delivery architect commissions and are delighted when clients trust us with these important projects.
CONTINUOUS LEARNING
In addition to advising on individual projects, the technical services team also takes a broader, proactive role by overseeing dissemination of the practice’s technical knowledge, including lessons learnt from previous projects.
This ensures that all staff are fully armed with the know-how they need to work to their best abilities. Designers are also supported by EPR’s in-house team of BIM experts. All this instils a technical confidence that feeds into the practice’s ‘can-do’ ethos.
BUILDING INFORMATION
MANAGEMENT (BIM)
We are BS EN ISO 19650 accredited, and we have our own in-house team of BIM Managers, BIM Co-ordinators and BIM Technicians who regularly instruct our staff on best practice in information management. We implement BIM methods on all projects from inception to completion, as we know this delivers significant benefits to our clients. It is also key to supporting our design process and providing the best building outcomes; enabling advanced workflow capabilities, enhanced design co-ordination, improved cost efficiencies, reduced construction contingencies and streamlined communications.
INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT
EPR also benefits from the technical services team’s wider industry engagement. This includes contributing to work to help shape and improve architects’ professional competencies, undertaken by Dieter Bentley-Gockmann, our director of legal and technical services, in collaboration with both the RIBA and ARB.
